ObamaMania in Europe: Germany Loves Barack; Obama Speaks at the Victory Column Then Goes to France and England

If Obama was running in Germany,he would have already wrapped up the elections. Most Germans are in love with the democratic candidate. They see hope in him. They do not care much about John McCain who is too old and belongs to the wrong party. That is what most Germans are saying. Even shop owners have a preference for the presidential candidates. They prefer to sell Obama bubble heads instead of John McCain, the senator. This week, Germans will have a chance to see their rock-star status candidate, Sen. Barack Obama. Germans stop at U.S. bases in Germany to talk about their happiness.

On Thursday, Obama will speak at one of Berlin's most famous landmarks, the Victory Column. It will be the first of three stops in Europe, where polls show Obama as an overwhelming favorite in the U.S. election.

Resonating with Europeans are Obama's age, eloquence and energy. The German news magazine Der Spiegel splashed the headline "Germany meets the superstar" over a photo of Obama on its cover this week. Some experts have a simple explanation for Europe's Obamamania. An America expert with the German Council on Foreign Relations put it bluntly: "He's not Bush."

Obama will continue to France and Britain after his Berlin stop.
